This course is an introduction to the art and craft of 3D computer animation, encompassing the entire production pipeline. Students explore the variety of techniques of modeling, texturing, shading, rigging, animating, camera layout, lighting, rendering, and compositing.
This course offers an in-depth exploration of 3D animation production, guiding students through the complexities of the animation pipeline. Students will engage in practical applications of industry-standard techniques and tools, focusing on advanced aspects of compositing, lighting, rigging, surfacing, fx, simulation, and rendering. The course emphasizes the enhancement of storytelling skills through the creation of short animated films, both as individual projects and collaborative efforts. (Syllabus)
This interactive animation course introduces students to advanced techniques for creating interactive animation using real-time 3D rendering software and a suite of 3D applications. Through hands-on exercises, discussions, and project-based learning, students will navigate the intersection of animation, game design, and interactive narrative. Topics include narrative structure, cinematography for interactive media, asset
integration, sound design, and collaboration practices. The course is designed to offer a comprehensive experience for both individual and group projects, emphasizing feedback incorporation and iterative design. (Syllabus)
This course provides an opportunity for students to explore and experiment with various methods to create digital animation and interactive media projects. As a studio course, students will work on self‐initiated projects that relate to their thesis thread and develop productive strategies to formulate their practice‐led research processes. 1st-year DAIM students are encouraged to work collaboratively, while 2nd-year students might work independently or take a leadership role in a group project. All projects should be related to each student's thesis threads conceptually and technically. (Syllabus)
